With the new Visa free rule and restored Old Town with hipster coffee shops and cocktail bars, Minsk will for sure surprise you as one of the next undiscovered gems of Eastern Europe.

The capital of Belarus and a modern city dominated by monumental Stalinist architecture. Many of its museums, theatres and other cultural attractions are located near the Independence Avenue, a wide, 15km-long thoroughfare leading to vast Independence Square. Looming over this iconic plaza are massive KGB Headquarters and the neo-Romanesque Church of Saints Simon and Helena, also known as Red Church.

Minsk and the rest of Belarus remained mostly closed off from Western influence until recently. You can still find huge grey concrete architecture, soviet influences and modern life mixed together. There is no other city that would have so many soviet buildings and monuments, including a monument of Lenin on the Independence Square.

Mir Castle Complex

Mir Castle in Grodno region is one of the most important tourist attractions in Belarus, an outstanding 16th-century fortification and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The complex consists of the residence-fortress, a picturesque park in the English style, the Italian garden, a pond, a chapel-tomb and roadside chapels. The impressive architecture of the Mir castle is a blend of three styles: Gothic, Renaissance and Rococo. In summer, the castle becomes a host to reconstruction of military events, concerts, theatre performances, live music evenings and festivals.

Nesvizh Radziwill Estate

Nesvizh Estate is located 120km south-west of Minsk. The Palace is one of the oldest settlements and is considered the most beautiful palace in Belarus, attracting thousands of visitors every year. Nesvizh Palace went through an extensive renovation programme to restore it to its former glory. In 2005 the castle complex was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

A must see for any cat lovers. Pop in to spend time and play with friendly cats as well as get acquainted with the works of art on the cat theme. You can even draw a picture on the cat theme and then exhibit it in a special room in the museum. The visitors also can play Cat-Checkers, Cat-Chess, “Cat on the Wall” and “Puss in Boots” games, do Cat-Puzzles ... In a small Cat Café, you can enjoy a cup of delicious cat-coffee with cat-sweets.

DAY 1

minsk promenadWelcome to Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Your driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the 3* Monastyrski Hotel (or similar). This charming hotel within a converted monastery is right in the middle of Minsk’s Old Town, and retains all the Gothic features of its spiritual past. With elaborate iron chandeliers casting shadows along corridors, you will not find a more atmospheric and unusual place to stay. No need to devote your evening to a solitary contemplation though; you can test out the hotel sauna and bar-hop the lively Old Town. Overnight in the Hotel. No meals.

DAY 2

minsk churchEnjoy an early breakfast as your full day tour will start at 9am. The meeting point for the group is the Minsk City Hall, Svabody Square – just 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The majestic Mir Castle was built in the XVI century. Its bright architectural look, mighty walls and towers, colourful courtyard will for sure leave a lasting impression. Enjoy Lunch at the restaurant. After lunch, drive to Nesvizh - the former capital of the Radziwill's Ordination. See the Market place, Town Hall, shopping arcades and artisan houses. Admire the Park and Palace Complex of the XVI-XVIII centuries designed by the Italian architect Giovanni Maria Bernardoni. During the visit of the Palace Museum, you will see the impressive expositions, grand halls and living and housekeeping areas. The knowledgeable guide will tell you about the history of the most powerful family of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth - the Radziwill Family which influenced the cultural heritage of Belarus and Europe. Back to Minsk by 8pm. Overnight in hotel. Meal included: Breakfast, Lunch.

DAY 3

minsk old cityAfter an eventful Saturday, you will have a whole day at leisure to do and see as you please. Have a stroll along Independence Avenue, the city’s main thoroughfare; see history from a different perspective at the Belarusian Great Patriotic War Museum. Pop in to the Cat Museum and Cat Café for your monthly doze of cat cuddles and enjoy a cup of delicious cat-coffee; you can even play Cat-Checkers, Cat-Chess and meet the Museum Director, Donut the Cat! You can visit the All Saints Church, the most beautiful Orthodox church in Minsk and a memorial to innocent victims of war. Make sure to have your camera on; Minsk is full of Soviet era architecture that will absolutely amaze you. Pop in to one of the many restaurants in the city for a feast of Belarussian cuisine. Overnight in hotel. Meal included: Breakfast.

DAY 4

Make sure to wake up early for the last few hours in Belarus Capital. Transfer to the airport for flight home. Meal included: Breakfast.
