Vladivostok, a military port located on the western shores of the Sea of Japan, is home to the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet. Due to its military importance, the city was closed to foreigners between 1930 and 1992. Vladivostok (literally translated as ‘Ruler of the East’) offers visitors an interesting opportunity to explore its principal military attractions including a visit to a preserved World War Two submarine.
Located 15 miles (25 kilometres) from the border with China, Khabarovsk stretches along the banks of the Amur River. Khabarovsk was founded as a military post in 1858, but the region had been populated by several indigenous peoples of the Far East for many centuries. It is now a busy city with tree-lined streets.

Irkutsk, capital of South Baikal, is one of the largest Siberian cities and was a key stop for caravans from Buchara and even China. Today Irkutsk became a center of gold-mining production and is developing fast. In the city you can discover unique examples of Irkutsk architectural heritage, such as “White house”, which was first a palace of the merchants Sibiryakovs, then a residence of East Siberia governor-general.

Listvyanka village is located on the shore of Lake Baikal 65 km away from Irkutsk city. This village was founded in the18th century and got its name from larch trees growing on the nearest cape. At the end of the 1920s, a Limnologicalstation was founded here; later it became the Limnological Institute of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Sciences. Its museum is already 10 years in existence and is visited annually by over 50,000 people. The exhibits acquaint visitorswith the history of studying and researching Lake Baikal, its fauna and its flora.
Lake Baikal
Lake Baikal

Few natural sights can surpass the beauty and grandeur of the Pearl of Siberia. Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world and holds 20% of the world’s freshwater. It stretches for 636 km longwise and 80 km widthwise. The Baikal’s maximum depth is 1,637 m. It is known as a "laboratory of biodiversity" as it is home to nearly 3,000 species of animals and plants, many of which are found nowhere else, such as a unique breed of freshwater seal.

Olkhon Island
Olkhon Island

Olkhon is the fourth-largest lake-bound island in the world. It is by far the largest island in Lake Baikal in eastern Siberia, with an area of 730 km2 (280 sq mi). The western shore ends with the many bays of the Maloye More. The island is 72 kilometres long and 15 kilometres wide.
Scientists still debate whether 'Olkhon' translates as 'little forest' or 'dry' as both names fit well.
Olkhon has a great combination of landscapes and is rich in archaeological landmarks. Olkhon is the geographical, historical and sacred centre of Lake Baikal. There are many legends and fairy tales about the island; it is believed to be the home of numerous Baikal spirits.

Ust-Orda is a village in Irkutsk region. The village is located mostly on the right coast of the Kuda River (one of the tributaries of the Angara), 62km to the north of the regional centre. The river flow into several smaller rivers, among them there is the Ordushka (Orda) which gave the name to the village. Ust-Orda is surrounded by hills from the west and east, the height in some places reaches 700 m. 3 km away from the village is located the Bulen Mountain, which is the sacred place for Buryat people even nowadays. Buryats are very numerous ethnic groups inhabiting the territory of Siberia. Ust-Orda region is known for the roots of the Buryat traditional culture having originated here. During the tour you will get acquainted with Buryat national folklore, national games and try
traditional Buryat cuisine.

Is this most beautiful city in Siberia? The writer Anton Chekhov thought so. Krasnoyarsk’s certainly wears winter well, with snow dusting its streets and blue-gold hues coloring the cityscape. See all the sights on a short tour and take in the stunning vista across the Yenisei River. Back on board, your Trans-Siberian tour continues on to Irkutsk.

Novosibirsk is situated in the south part of West Siberia, on the banks of Ob River. The city takes the third place by population in Russia after Moscow and St Petersburg. It's a center of Russian arts, science and literature. 14 most prestigiuos universities of the country are located here. In the heart of the city there is an architectural marvel -the largest opera house in the world.

Founded in 1723 by Peter the Great, Yekaterinburg is the third largest Russian city and the capital of the Urals. The cultural and architectural influences of European and Asian civilisations come together in this fascinating and cosmopolitan landscape. The last Russian Emperor, Nicolas II Romanov and his family spent their last days here. On 19th July 1918 the whole family was executed by the Bolsheviks in the basement room of the Ipatiev’s estate. Nowadays there is the Cathedral On Spilt Blood which provides a powerful insight into the turmoil of the Russian Revolution.

Nizhny Novgorod
Nizhny Novgorod
At the confluence of the Oka and the Volga Rivers, Nizhny Novgorod (formerly named Gorky), founded in 1221, is the 3rd largest city of Russia is located. Although it dates back to the 13th century, the majority of its most interesting sights are from later periods. The first and foremost among these is the city’s great, brooding Kremlin, built during the 16th century. Today Nizhny Novgorod is a large river port, trade and cultural centre.
The ancient city of Vladimir is one of the most visited among the Golden Ring destinations. It was established in 1108 before Moscow and was once the capital of Russia. It preserves several of the finest architectural masterpieces, such as the Cathedral of Saint Demetrius, the Nativity monastery with the white church, Kniaginin monastery and the Assumption Cathedral.
Suzdal is the heart and soul of the Golden Ring. Being one of Russia’s most perfectly preserved walled cities dating back to 1024 it is an open-air museum of more than 200 ancient monuments. It offers a unique combination of genuine antiquity, unique spirit of Slavic traditions, mesmerising architecture and truly holy places.

A truly iconic, global city, Moscow is the 860 year-old capital of Russia. There are dozens of reasons to come. Being one of the most breathtaking capitals in the world, Moscow has a wide range of cultural landmarks. We suggest exploring them all.
