Khuvsgul Lake is the princess of Northern Mongolia known as “Blue Pearl of Asia” among Mongolians. This lake is sacred to all Mongols and water is incredibly crystal clean and located in the northernmost province with 36km wide, 262m deep and 136km long. The highlight of the area is the ethnic reindeers’ herders called Tsaatan. This ethnic groups of Turkic origin related to the Tuvans are the most exotic and mystical people with small numbers, inhabit in the amazing beautiful taigas. Tsaatan people worship “the Eternal Blue Sky and Mother Earth” and retained an ancient, unusual culture based on shamanistic rituals and forest-based reindeer-herding.

Classic Mongolia Tour Itinerary
Our team will meet you at the “Chinggis Khan” international airport and transfer to the hotel in the city. After rest, we will start our city tour starting from the Sukhbaatar square. This square is a spirit of the capital and famous for its surroundings including Parliament House, National Opera Theatre, Cultural Palace and House of City Council. Then we will visit Zaisan Hill that provides wide open view of the Ulaanbaatar. Visit in the Museum of Natural History which is well-known for its precious findings Dinosaur eggs and bones. We will end our day with traditional performance of folk songs, throat singing, horse-headed fiddle, ethnic dances and arty contortion. Overnight in the hotel.
After breakfast, we will visit Gandan Monastery a centre of Mongolian yellow sect Buddhism. We will see the outstanding 24m golden plated statue of Buddha; Megjid Janraiseg. This monastery is the largest and most important monastery of Mongolia with 500 monks. Then we go to see Museum of National History which has many colorful exhibits; historical findings, traditional handicrafts and dressing. In the afternoon, we will drive to the Gorkhi Terelj National Park, located in the Khentii Mountain range. This park is the popular destination because of its gigantic granite rock formations, a famous “Crawling Turtle Rock”, alpine forests and flower scenery. Opportunities for horse riding and hiking and return to Ulaanbaatar for the evening.
We will fly to Murun, a capital of Khuvsgul province and drive to Khuvsgul Lake, second largest freshwater lake in the Central Asia with 262m depth. This gorgeous lake is fed by 96 rivers and streams but only Egiin River flows out from the lake. Khuvsgul Lake is inhabited by 9 species of fish, while the nearby taiga forest, forest steppe, mountains and the lake provide habitat for 68 species of mammals. The lake is surrounded by dozens of stunning mountains, thick pine forests and lush meadows with grazing yaks and horses. Overnight in the ger camp near the lake.
In the morning we will hike in the surrounding forest mountains to have a better look of the crystal blue lake. There are horse riding and fishing opportunities around the lake. In the afternoon, we will drive to the north to visit Reindeer village where we can experience Tsaatan; reindeer breeders’ unique everyday life and traditional tent dwelling “Urts”. Return to the ger camp and overnight in the ger.
After breakfast we will drive back to Murun to catch a flight to Ulaanbaatar. In the afternoon we will visit Museum of Natural History that has millions of years old Dinosaur’s eggs and bones discovered in Mongolia including famous “Fighting Dinosaurs” skeletons. Overnight in the hotel.
Early morning breakfast and we will fly to Dalanzadgad; a provincial capital of South Gobi. The Gobi Desert is called “Golden Gobi” the mystical place that captivates the imagination. It is an extreme area with high temperature changes, sparse vegetation and small community of local nomads. The Gobi is also unique for its fauna; homeland of “Prince of the Gobi” the two humped Bacterian camel and world’s only desert bear, the Gobi bear. We visit camel breeders’ families for a camel riding. Overnight in the ger camp.
After breakfast we will drive to the majestic Gobi Gurvan Saikhan (Three Beauties of the Gobi) National Park where we will enjoy incredible “Yol Valley”. The valley is the unusual narrow canyon of a river that flows through the Zuun Saikhan Mountain. The sheer rock walls stand 200m and the canyon has stunning green meadows with thick glacier layer that is deeply set between the walls. During the summer rainfall water runs from the top of the walls forming waterfalls. Overnight in the ger camp.
Breakfast at the camp, we will drive to the Bayanzag known as a Flamming Cliffs to the world. We will see the ancient red rock creation, Bayanzag formed 60-70 million years ago, famous as Flamming Cliffs named by Roy Andrew Chapman, an American explorer who visited Mongolia in 1920s. The wonderful red Bayanzag cliffs have dinosaur fossils, eggs and bones all over the place and neighbored by bushy Saxual tree forests. We will visit Moltsog Els sand dunes to do camel riding. We will drive back to the ger camp and overnight
Fly back to Ulaanbaatar. In the afternoon, we will visit Bogd Khaan Palace Museum; the palace known as the Green Palace. The palace was built in 1903 dedicated to the 8th Bogd Gegeen, the head of lamaist religion and last khan of Mongolia. Amazing bronze castings, silk paintings, paper icons, mineral paintings, god statues made by Zanabazar and his students including a royal ger made out of snow leopard skins are the main attraction of this palace. Overnight in the hotel.
We will drive to the National Park lies in the south of Ulaanbaatar, Bogd Khaan Mountain has been the most ancient national park of the country since 300 years ago. Several religious ceremonies take place a year near the highest peak of Tsetsee Gun with 2268m. Manzushir Monastery is the key attraction in the area. The monastery was built in the 18th century but was in ruins after the communist purges of 1930s. This monastery was known throughout Mongolia for its religious services and its celebration of Tsam mask dancing. The monastery accommodated 350 monks in 20 temples including school of medicine, astrology and Buddhist philosophy. Overnight in the hotel in Ulaanbaatar.
After breakfast, we will drive to the Bayangobi. It is a unique place with many different forms of natural landscape; combination of a Gobi sand dunes, forests and rocky mountains. In the afternoon we will visit Erdene Khambyn Khuree; the monastery is located in the majestic looking Khugnu Khaan mountain. Enlightened Bogd Gegeen Zanabazar, a religious leader, philosopher, artist and sculptor was founded these Uvgun and Zaluu temples for his religious teacher. The soldiers of Oirad nobleman Galdan boshigt destroyed the monasteries and assassinated the monks in 1688. Horse riding opportunities. Overnight in the ger camp.
After breakfast we will drive to Kharkhorin; an ancient Capital of Great Mongolian Empire and main treasure of Mongolian Buddhism, an Erdenezuu Monastery. Kharkhorin was established in the valley of Orkhon river in 1220. Kharkhorin played significant role in Mongolian history and was a capital city of Mongolian Great Empire until Khubilai Khaan, a grandson of Chinggis Khaan moved the capital to Beijing of Yuan Dynasty. We will see 800 years old worshipping Turtle Rock near the temple. Erdenezuu Monastery – the first Buddhist monastery was founded by Avtai Sain Khaan, descendant of Chinggis Khaan, on the ruins of Kharkhorin in 1586. The monastery is surrounded by beautiful looking white walls with 108 stupas. Overnight in the ger camp.
After breakfast we will drive to the Hustai National Park. The park lies in the foothills of southern Khentii mountain range and it is the place where you can see wild horse called Takhi known as Przewalski horse to the world. The wild horses survive in nature by themselves because they have been reintroduced successfully to their homeland after 40 years of extinction. Currently, the number of Takhi has already reached more than 170. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar and overnight in the hotel.
