This Winter we are offering an amazing tour combining not only the two magnificent Russian Capitals, but also the World’s biggest city above the Arctic Circle – Murmansk.
Visiting Russia in Winter must be on top of anyone’s Bucket List; the glorious landscapes and World famous sights covered in snow will amaze even the most demanding traveller. See the classic sights and visit the famous landmarks in both St Petersburg and Moscow, and try the exciting troika ride in the Pavlovsk Park.
In Murmansk, you will get a chance to visit the Sammi village and experience the exhilarating Arctic tradition of dogsledding first hand. The highlight of the tour must be one of the most inspiring miracles of nature – the Northern Lights. Thanks to an experienced guide who will take into account all the features of the search, your chances to see it are very high!
DAY 1, ST PETERSBURG
Your Russian adventure has begun! On arrival to St Petersburg transfer from the airport to the choosen hotel.
DAY 2, ST PETERSBURG
After a breakfast at the hotel, join in a St Petersburg CITY TOUR. During the tour, you will be taken to the most precious monuments of the city’s rich history and original architecture carefully preserved as the world cultural heritage. The 3-hour sightseeing tour will allow you to get a brief but bright impression of Saint Petersburg. Visit Peter and Paul Fortress, the place of birth of Saint Petersburg, here began the foundation of this beautiful city. Today it is home to several museums, which exhibit to everyone the splendid history of Saint-Petersburg’s foundation and growth. After a lunch at the local restaurant - famous HERMITAGE. WINTER PALACE (MAIN COLLECTION) It is hard to imagine a trip to Saint Petersburg without visiting one of the most famous museums worldwide – the State Hermitage. You will be literally overwhelmed by the beauty of the museum and will never forget this magnificent and legendary place. Overnight at the hotel. Meal included: breakfast, lunch.
DAY 3, ST PETERSBURG
Following a breakfast, transfer to PUSHKIN (PALACE AND PARK) .The Summer Palace is the heart of Tsarskoe Selo (Tsar’s Village) – one of the most picturesque parks among the former residences of the Russian Emperors. Here you may feel the atmosphere of the Royal way of life in its entire magnificence.
Don't miss a chance to experience - CARRIAGE RIDING IN TROIKA IN PAVLOVSK PARK. Troika is traditional Russian carriage drawn by three horses harnessed side-by-side. In Russia it had firstly appeared in XVIII century and was used mainly by elite. Since then it became one of the symbols of the country and today everyone can feel himself like a tsar and experience that true Russian ride in the snowy park. And Pavlovsk is the best place to do it! It a unique monument of landscape art: beautiful gardens on the hills, avenues of trees, romantic buildings, winding rivers and stone bridges. After a lunch, NEVSKY PROSPECT WALKING TOUR. During this tour you will see the treasures of Saint Petersburg - Anichkov bridge decorated with sculptures, Catherine’s garden and monument in front of the Alexandrinsky theatre, Eliseevy Merchants' Shop, Church of the Savior on blood, Kazan Cathedral, Royal square with Hermitage, Admiralty, St. Isaac’s Cathedral at the left side, and much more. Overnight at the hotel. Meal included: breakfast, lunch.
DAY 4, ST PETERSBURG - MURMANSK
Today you are leaving St Petersburg and heading to Murmansk. After breakfast and check out from the hotel, transfer to the airport to catch a flight to Murmansk (ticket not included). On arrival transfer to the choose hotel in Murmansk.Overnight at the hotel. Meal included: breakfast.
DAY 5, MURMANSK
First day in Murmansk will start with visit to THE SAAM'S VILLAGE. The village is located in 110 km from Murmansk. This is an open-air ethnographical museum, where you can get acquainted with the history and traditions of the ingenious people of the North – Saams. After a warm welcome, you will have an excursion and see their typical houses, communicate with tamed deer, taste the national cuisine, visit the museum, that introduces rich culture and lifestyle of Saams. In winter it is possible to enjoy snowmobiling and reindeer sledding. Take a break for lunch.
The North would not be the same without its sled dogs. Those loyal and tenacious animals have a long and proud history of carrying people and goods in their sleds. With the help of the Husky Centre, you too can experience the exhilarating Arctic tradition of dogsledding first hand. A pack of happy, friendly and well-trained Siberian huskies will pull you along to adventure in and around the winter wonderland. During the excursion you will have time to play with husky and enjoy traditional Saam’s dishes: fish soup, reindeer meat and berry pie. Overnigh at the hotel. Meal included: breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAY 6, MURMANSK
This morning will start with Murmansk CITY TOUR. Murmansk is a large military and industrial city, the most important center of fishing and large ships. Many landmarks of the city remind of outstanding historical events, one of the most symbolic objects is the famous memorial "Defenders of the Soviet Arctic in the years of the Great Patriotic War." Another outstanding historical monument is the first nuclear icebreaker built in the Soviet Union. Up to 2009, it was operational, and was recently reorganized into a kind of museum exposition. After lunch at the local restaurant, visit to LENIN'S ICEBREAKER .The world's first nuclear icebreaker, the first surface vessel with a nuclear power plant. The icebreaker was built in the USSR, first of all, for servicing the Northern Sea Route. After working for 30 years, in 1989 the icebreaker "Lenin" was decommissioned and put on an eternal parking lot in Murmansk.
The search for northern lights will begin tonight! Join a hunt for one of the most inspiring miracles of nature – the Northern Lights. Every winter the sky over the Murmansk is illuminated by bright light – which happens when electrically charged solar particles collide with atoms from our atmosphere. It is almost impossible to predict the appearance of the Northern Lights, but thanks to an experienced guide who will take into account all the features of the search, your chances to see it are very high! You are guaranteed to get to the places which open the best view on it! Overnight at the hotel. Meal included: breakfast, lunch.
DAY 7, MURMANSK - MOSCOW
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport. Today you're leaving Murmansk and going to Russia's capital - Moscow (flight ticket not included). On arrival you will be met at the airport and transfered to choosen hotel in Moscow. Overnight at the hotel. Meal included: breakfast.
DAY 8, MOSCOW
The best way to start exploring Russia's capital is a CITY TOUR. Moscow represents a unique set of old architecture masterpieces and modern high-tech buildings. During the tour you will have a glimpse of Moscow's main landmarks, such as the Red Square, the Kremlin, the Victory Park, the White House, the Arbat, Cathedral Christ-the-Saviour, the observation platform of Sparrow hills, Lomonosov University and much more! It is an interesting and efficient introduction to Europe’s biggest city. After lunch, visit one of the most well-known sights of Moscow – the KREMLIN with its red brick walls and 20 towers holding their own unique history. Since its first construction in 1156 as a wooden fortress by the order of Grand Duke Yuri Dolgoruky, it has been rebuilt several times. Today Kremlin is the residence of Russian President and the main symbol of the country, revered by all of its citizens.
Next, is THE RED SQUARE WALKING TOUR. Even if you have seen this place and its landmarks dozens of times, it will be a breathtaking experience to see it in real life. During the walking tour, you will have the time to take pictures of this 73,000 square meters brick-paved square surrounded by the Kremlin Walls, Lenin’s Tomb, St Basil’s Cathedral, Resurrection gate, GUM superstore and the Russian State Historical Museum. Turn to the left, and find yourself in one of the oldest urban public parks in Moscow - Alexander Garden. It keeps a lot of valuable architectural monuments: Kutafia tower of the Kremlin, Italian grotto, an obelisk to the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, as well as sculptures, fountains and mosaics based on popular fairytales. The guide will tell you about the numerous of important historical events, which took place on the Red square and bring you all around it to discover from different points of view. DAY 9, MOSCOW
Transfer to the airport as your Russian adventure comes to an end. Meal included: breakfast.
