Uncover the secrets of rural Southern Russia on this enticing 7 day tour. Begin your journey with a tour of Rostov on Don: stroll along the embankment, take in the lush colours of Pushkinskaya Street and buy souvenirs in the old marketplace. Visit the home of famous writer Anton Chekov in the romantic town of Taganrog and take in stunning views from the quay. Get a feel for Cossack life in rustic Starocherkasskaya and Novocherkassk where our guides will tell tales of local traditions, before visiting the charming town of Azov, a former Turkish fortress. The final port of call is the vast city of Volgograd, which was almost completely destroyed in the Battle of Stalingrad. Ascend Mamyev Hill where you can stand next to the famous Mother Russia monument and take in breathtaking panoramic views of this remarkable city.

Day 1, ROSTOV ON DON
Welcome to Southern Russia! Fly via Moscow and arrive in Rostov on Don where you are transferred to your hotel for the first evening.
Day 2, ROSTOV ON DON
After breakfast, take a city tour of Rostov-on-Don, the administrative centre of Russia. Highlights of the city tour include Gorky Park, the Quay and the old open air market where you will have the opportunity to buy souvenirs. After lunch at a local cafe, enjoy an afternoon of free time to further explore the city. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch.
Day 3, TAGANROG
Today, transfer to Taganrog; a quiet, romantic town full of quaint cottages which was founded by Tsar Peter the Great. Learn about this remarkable place in The Historical Museum of Taganrog before visiting "Tchekhov House" to gain an insight into the life of beloved and admired writer Anton Chekhov. After lunch, take a stroll around Pushkinskaya Quay before the journey back to Rostov, stopping en route to visit the Open Archaeological Musuem of Tanais. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch.
Day 4, STAROCHERKASSKAYA - NOVOCHERKASSK
Following breakfast, enjoy the drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Starocherkasskaya; an old typical Cossack village, located on an island on the Don River. Enjoy a traditional lunch before heading to Novocherkassk, a significant cultural centre for the region of Rostov and the capital of the Cossack people. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch.
Day 5, AZOV
Drive to the charming town of Azov, a former Turkish fortress rich in history. In the evening take the overnight train onwards to Volgograd to conclude your Southern Russian Adventure. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch.
Day 6, VOLGOGRAD
Welcome to Volgograd! Known as Stalingrad during the Soviet period, the city was almost completely destroyed in World War II before becoming recognised as the turning point for victory. Take a city tour and observe the abundance of monuments in memorial of the Battle of Stalingrad. The final highlight of your adventure is ascending the magnificent Mamayev Kurgan where the majestic statue Mother Russia stands. Meals Included:Lunch.
Day 7, VOLGOGRAD
Following breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport for your flight home. Meals Included: Breakfast.
