Few natural sights can surpass the beauty and grandeur of the Pearl of Siberia. Lake Baikal is the deepest lake in the world and holds 20% of the world’s freshwater. It stretches for 636 km longwise and 80 km widthwise. The Baikal’s maximum depth is 1,637 m. It is known as a "laboratory of biodiversity" as it is home to nearly 3,000 species of animals and plants, many of which are found nowhere else, such as a unique breed of freshwater seal.
Day 1

Upon arrival in Irkutsk, you are transferred to the Baikalskiye Terema Hotel situated in Listvyanka Village on the banks of stunning Lake Baikal. Relax with some free time before the New Year Gala Dinner in the hotel, complete with games, gifts, surprises and fireworks. What better way to welcome in the New Year? (L, D)

Day 2

After breakfast, make the most of your free time in Listvyanka. Take a stroll on the banks of Lake Baikal where you can watch locals make ice sculptures, go dog sledding or take a trip on a Khivus motorship across the ice (payable locally). (B)

Day 3

Today, visit the Baikal Musuem where you can virtually dive to the bottom of the lake and learn about the flora and fauna, some of which are unique to the area. In the afternoon, take a trip to the local market where you have the opportunity to buy souvenirs and try smoked Baikal fish. (B)

Day 4

Visit the Talsty Open Air Ethnographic Museum located on the banks of the Angara River. The museum is home to examples of Eastern Siberian wooden architecture and will give you an insight into life in rural Russia. (B, D)
